DMail guide

Build a website with .dmail

Connect .dmail to redirects, A records or decentralized web content such as IPFS where supported.

Web and decentralized-web records

Freename documentation describes records such as website redirects, A records and an IPFS/DWeb hash. Depending on the resolver/browser setup, these can route a .dmail name to a conventional website or decentralized content.

Three common approaches

  • Redirect: point the domain to an existing HTTPS site.
  • A record: resolve to an IP address where supported.
  • IPFS / DWeb: connect the name to decentralized content using the relevant record.
Browser note: Web3 names are not guaranteed to resolve natively in every browser/ISP setup. Freename provides DNS/resolution tools and integrations; test your intended audience’s path before publishing critical links.
